Hard pressed to agree more. Stunned by the film's quality, the performances, the editing, and much else. But the screenplay stands above the rest. The depth of the writing, at times lyrical, other times brutal, its' plumbing of historical context, the delicately balanced portrayals of varied and complex characters, and the ease with which voluminous technical information is imparted to the audience, simply astonishes.
